Hello friends!
Dave Booda here. I'm so excited to be bringing two of my favorite artists together on the same stage — Lee Coulter and Gill SOTU. These gentlemen have contributed in a huge way to the San Diego music and art community and I can't wait for you to experience them. They each have impressive bios but I'd like to take a moment and tell you why I love them.
Lee Coulter. The fact that Lee is still available to be seen and experienced locally has always been a surprise to me. He has nation-level talent, he's an incredible songwriter and on top of that he's charming and has an adorable accent. He is an artist in the true sense of the word, and aside from an impressive catalog of songs and albums, he's a book author, filmmaker, poet and visual artist. Lee and I have shared the stage several times and this will be his first show at The Emerald Village with the Tea House Concert series.
Gill SOTU. Gill and I met over 15 years ago I've had the pleasure of watching him consistently and meaningfully bring mountains of talent, love and community to the San Diego poetry scene. His list of accomplishments is far too many to name but a few notables are he is a 2x Grand Slam Poetry Champion, 2x Raw Performing Artist of the Year, and 5x TEDx San Diego presenter. Currently, he is a teaching artist and a commissioned playwright with The Old Globe Theatre & La Jolla Playhouse, and the official Poet in Residence for the San Diego Writer's Festival.
Lee, Gill and I have all been friends for 10+ years and Lee and Gill have collaborated on several songs, one of which was featured at TEDxSanDiego, which you can see below. For those who haven't been to a songwriter-in-the-round show before, all three artists are on stage together, and given the history and relationships between the three of us, this will no doubt be a memorable and meaningful evening.
